Artificial Intelligence Engineer

We are seeking a Senior AI Developer to join a growing Data & Analytics function focused on delivering enterprise-scale AI and data products that drive business transformation.

This is an opportunity to work on cutting-edge AI initiatives, developing production-ready solutions that leverage Large Language Models (LLMs), Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), advanced data platforms and modern cloud technologies. You will play a key role in designing, building and supporting AI-enabled products while ensuring the highest standards of security, governance and quality.

The Opportunity

As a Senior AI Developer, you will be responsible for delivering end-to-end AI and data solutions that support business-critical processes and decision-making. Working closely with stakeholders across technology and business teams, you will help shape AI capabilities that create measurable value and scalable outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver AI and data product initiatives from requirements gathering and solution design through development, testing, deployment and support.
• Design, build and maintain data products optimised for AI consumption, including curated datasets, feature-ready tables and governed data assets.
• Develop and operationalise LLM-enabled applications, including RAG architectures, embeddings, retrieval pipelines, re-ranking and grounded response generation.
• Build and integrate AI tools and Model Context Protocol (MCP) capabilities to connect AI models with approved enterprise systems.
• Create reusable prompts, skills, system instructions and structured output frameworks.
• Develop AI evaluation frameworks measuring accuracy, groundedness, safety, latency and cost efficiency.
• Implement guardrails and responsible AI controls covering data privacy, security, governance and model risk.
• Build robust data pipelines covering data discovery, profiling, transformation, enrichment and validation.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to define requirements, prioritise use cases and translate business needs into technical solutions.
• Produce high-quality technical documentation, architecture artefacts, prompt libraries and operational runbooks.
• Drive continuous improvement across the AI delivery lifecycle through automation, reusable assets and enhanced observability.

Required Experience

• Minimum 2 years' experience delivering AI and data products within enterprise environments.
• Strong hands-on experience building LLM-powered applications and RAG solutions.
• Experience with prompt engineering, conversation design and prompt lifecycle management.
• Proven track record developing AI evaluation frameworks and quality assurance processes.
• Strong data engineering fundamentals including data profiling, transformation, validation and governance.
• Proficiency in Python and/or TypeScript.
• Experience working with APIs, JSON and enterprise integration patterns.
• Exposure to modern cloud platforms such as Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and/or Microsoft Azure.
• Strong understanding of AI security, governance, compliance and risk management.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to take ownership, manage priorities and drive successful outcomes.
• Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
