We are looking for people who enjoy turning complex data into understandable insights, are passionate about AI & data science and want to contribute to the development of HR technology.

Your work as an AI & Data Science intern at #Highberg

As an intern, you will work on exploring and prototyping an innovative AI solution that helps non-technical HR users work with complex HR data in a simple and intuitive way.

The core of the assignment: you will research and build a chat interface that allows users to query structured HR data from a data warehouse, without having to write SQL or needing technical prior knowledge.

In your research, you will explore questions such as:

• How can we enable natural language queries on HR datasets using generative AI?
• Which tools and technologies (e.g. Copilot, Azure OpenAI, LangChain, FastAPI) are best suited for this use case?
• What are the options for integrating this solution into Power BI, including security aspects such as row-level security?
• What does a reliable, explainable, and user-friendly solution look like in practice?
  
  

Although we already have ideas about possible tools and architectures, we deliberately keep the technology choice open. Together with colleagues, you will research and document various design options. The ultimate goal is integration of the assistant into Power BI, but your MVP may start as a stand-alone prototype.

With your work, you will contribute directly to our mission to make data-driven HR smarter, more accessible and future-proof.

What are we asking?

• You are in the final year of a study at university level;
• You have experience with Python and SQL, and preferably a visualisation tool such as Power BI;
• Excellent communication skills in English, both written and oral;
• You are available for ≥4 days a week for at least 6 months and within 1 hour travel from our office in Amsterdam RAI.

What are we offering?

• A good internship allowance (EUR 550 per month) and training courses worth several thousand euros;
• 12.5 days' holiday (for a six-month full-time employment);
• Starting from September or by mutual agreement;
• Supervision by an experienced data scientist;
• A pleasant working environment, short communication lines, focus on performance as a team and plenty of social activities such as get-togethers, sports activities and team meetings;
• Our office is located at the Zuidas in Amsterdam and is easily accessible by public transport. We ask you to work at the office a minimum of two days a week, but you are always welcome, whether it is for the good coffee, a game of table tennis or just for your colleagues.
  
  

About The Team

You will join the People, Analytics & Research team, which is part of the Organisational & Sustainability Transformation Hub. The team consists of around 25 colleagues: consultants, researchers, data scientists and data engineers. A great team of smart and driven professionals, who are always there for you with a helping hand! We not only work hard together, but also have a lot of fun together - we organise social events and we do lots of fun activities, such as outings, Friday afternoon drinks and sports events.
