About the Role

Our client is assembling a brand-new, high-impact team to expand and create next-generation applications that leverage proprietary AI models for automated image retrieval and analysis. As a Full Stack Developer, you’ll play a pivotal role in architecting, building, and scaling intelligent systems that drive operational efficiency and innovation. This is a freelance position based in Antwerp, with a 12-month project duration.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Designing, developing, and maintaining full-stack applications using Node.js and React, with a focus on scalability and performance.
• Building and integrating automated systems for image retrieval and analysis, leveraging proprietary AI/ML models.
• Leading and coaching a development team, fostering a culture of ownership and technical excellence.
• Setting up and optimizing development pipelines and CI/CD workflows.
• Collaborating in an Agile/Scrum environment, driving iterative delivery and continuous improvement.
• Implementing and optimizing backend services with PostgreSQL and Python.
• Developing performance-sensitive components in C++ where required.
• Integrating AI models (LLMs, VLMs) into applications via APIs (REST, websockets).
• Ensuring robust data preprocessing and augmentation for multimodal (image, text, video) applications.
• Utilizing deep learning frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow, JAX) and GPU acceleration (CUDA/NVIDIA ecosystem).
• Fine-tuning and prompt engineering for LLMs and VLMs, and working with vector databases and RAG pipelines.
• Delivering high-quality, maintainable code through rapid prototyping, testing, and debugging.

Technical Skills

• 5+ years of demonstrable experience in full-stack development (Node.js, React, PostgreSQL, Python).
• Strong proficiency in Dutch (CEFR level C2 required).
• Experience with C++ for performance-critical components.
• Hands-on expertise with AI/ML models (LLMs: GPT, Claude, LLaMA; VLMs: CLIP, BLIP, Flamingo).
• Deep knowledge of data preprocessing and augmentation for image, text, and multimodal data.
• Proficiency with deep learning frameworks: PyTorch, TensorFlow, JAX.
• Experience with Docker and containerized development environments.
• Familiarity with fine-tuning, prompt engineering, and integrating AI models via APIs.
• Experience with GPU acceleration, CUDA, and the NVIDIA ecosystem.
• Knowledge of vector databases and retrieval augmented generation (RAG) pipelines.
• Strong CSS skills for front-end development.

Other Requirements

• Demonstrable experience leading and coaching development teams.
• Proven ability to deliver programming assignments rapidly: coding, testing, debugging.
• Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies, with the ability to take a leadership role.
• Track record of delivering complex projects for large user bases.
• Experience developing and maintaining application-based solutions.

Language Proficiency

• Dutch at European CEFR level C2 (mandatory).
