DevOps Lead (Path to CTO) | Hyper Growth Startup | $150k + Super

We are working with a tech company who are looking to scale up their AU team. They build bespoke software for the recruitment space and are looking for a key hire for their team.

This will be a Senior DevOps role, leading a small Indian Team with a path to CTO.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Manage and optimise our AWS cloud infrastructure, ensuring performance, scalability, and cost-efficiency.
  • Lead and mentor a DevOps team of 3 engineers based in India, driving best practices and alignment.
  • Work closely with customer-facing teams to investigate and resolve infrastructure and performance issues.
  • Own the setup and maintenance of CI/CD pipelines, IaC (Terraform), container orchestration, and infrastructure security (IAM, VPC, etc.).
  • Implement proactive monitoring, alerting, and logging solutions to reduce downtime and improve reliability.
  • Drive automation across deployment, configuration, patching, and scaling workflows.
  • Collaborate directly with clients and stakeholders to present technical findings and explain platform decisions confidently.
  • Assist in security best practices including encryption, token management, and Cloudflare protections.
  • Contribute to release planning and production readiness, ensuring a smooth and auditable pipeline from code to cloud.

What You’ll Bring:

  • 4–8 years of DevOps experience, with minimum 2 years based in Australia.
  • Strong AWS infrastructure background: EC2, S3, VPC, IAM, ALB, RDS, CloudWatch.
  • Hands-on with Terraform for infrastructure-as-code.
  • Good knowledge of Docker and experience with container orchestration (ECS, EKS or Kubernetes).
  • Comfortable with Linux systems, scripting (Bash, Python) and log analysis.
  • Experience using and configuring Cloudflare (WAF, CDN, DNS, firewall rules).
  • Experience setting up secure CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitHub Actions or similar.
  • Understanding of cloud security, secrets management, and compliance controls.
  • Excellent communication and customer-facing capabilities — able to speak confidently with non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience in mentoring or leading a small remote team — especially India-based engineering teams.
  • Strong documentation habits using Confluence, SOPs, and runbooks.
