About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled iOS Developer to join our dynamic team working on the NHS App for England. In this role, you will be instrumental in developing and maintaining the iOS version of the application, ensuring it delivers a seamless, high-quality experience to millions of users. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams including design, product management, infrastructure, and testing to create innovative features and improve existing functionalities. Your expertise will contribute to the entire product lifecycle, from initial design and development through testing, deployment, and ongoing support. The ideal candidate will possess a passion for mobile development, a keen eye for detail, and a commitment to delivering performant, reliable, and user-centric applications.
Qualifications
The successful candidate will have proven experience in iOS development using Swift, SwiftUI, and Xcode. A strong understanding of iOS design principles, interface guidelines, and architecture patterns such as MVVM is essential. Candidates should demonstrate familiarity with SOLID principles, continuous integration/delivery pipelines, and a DevOps mindset. Experience with troubleshooting, debugging, and performance optimization is required. Knowledge of native OS features like push notifications, HealthKit, and App Intents, as well as integrating with RESTful APIs, is highly desirable. Additionally, familiarity with Swift Package Manager, mobile app analytics, and handling concurrency will be advantageous. The ideal applicant will be proactive, collaborative, and eager to stay updated with the latest iOS development trends and best practices.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team to design, document, and develop scalable, high-quality solutions for the NHS App's iOS platform using Swift and SwiftUI.
- Develop and implement unit and integration tests to ensure code quality and reliability.
- Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code adhering to best practices and coding standards.
- Optimize applications for performance and speed to enhance user experience.
- Ensure the application complies with Apple App Store guidelines and requirements.
- Partner closely with UI/UX designers to implement consistent, intuitive, and visually appealing interfaces.
- Support and troubleshoot applications in production environments, providing ongoing maintenance and improvements.
- Stay informed about the latest iOS development trends, tools, and best practices to continually improve the development process.
- Engage in code reviews, collaborative problem-solving, and knowledge sharing within the team.
- Contribute to the development of technical documentation and user manuals as needed.
- Proactively identify and resolve issues, bugs, and performance bottlenecks in the application.
- Work with the DevOps team to streamline deployment processes and improve CI/CD pipelines.
This position offers a competitive daily rate of approximately 610 per day, inside IR35, with the opportunity to work remotely.
