About The Role
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Network Engineer (m/w/d) to join our team at CGI Deutschland B.V. & Co. KG. In this role, you will be instrumental in maintaining, optimizing, and securing our clients' network infrastructures. Working closely with a team of experienced professionals, you will be responsible for ensuring the stability, security, and performance of complex network environments. Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have a solid educational background in (business) informatics, IT, or a related field, complemented by professional certifications and practical experience. A completed degree or vocational training such as an IT specialist for system integration is preferred, along with several years of relevant experience in network administration and consulting. You should possess in-depth knowledge of network fundamentals, including LAN, VLAN, VPN, DHCP, and DNS, as well as experience with routing and switching protocols such as OSPF, EIGRP, STP, and BGP. Skills in network security, firewalls, and access control are essential, along with experience in monitoring and troubleshooting using industry-standard tools. Basic scripting and automation knowledge, as well as familiarity with wireless networks and Linux systems, will be advantageous. A CCNA certification is highly desirable, demonstrating your expertise and commitment to professional development.
Responsibilities
As a Network Engineer at CGI, your core responsibilities will include:
- Managing the operation, administration, and continuous improvement of network infrastructures, including LAN, WLAN, and WAN environments.
- Conducting incident and problem management processes to ensure service stability and implementing root cause analysis for recurring issues.
- Identifying optimization opportunities and implementing measures to enhance network performance, security, and reliability.
- Proactively monitoring network components, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring high availability and optimal performance.
- Designing, implementing, and documenting high-availability network topologies and configurations.
- Implementing security measures such as port security, encryption, and authentication protocols to protect network assets.
- Operating and maintaining firewalls, load balancers, and other security appliances to ensure scalable and secure network access.
- Planning and executing patch management, firmware updates, and hardware/software upgrades to maintain system integrity.
- Maintaining comprehensive documentation of network configurations, changes, and procedures to facilitate ongoing support and audits.
- Creating operational instructions, knowledge base articles, and sharing expertise with support teams.
- Providing technical support and consultation to colleagues and clients, including resolving complex network issues.
- Participating in network migration, modernization, and integration projects to support organizational growth and technological advancement.
