About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Staff iOS Engineer to join our dynamic team in Toronto, Canada. In this pivotal role, you will lead the development and delivery of cutting-edge mobile applications that enhance our customers' financial lives. You will be responsible for guiding a team of talented engineers, fostering innovation, and ensuring the successful execution of key projects. Your hands-on expertise in iOS development will be instrumental in shaping the future of our mobile offerings.

At Capital One Canada, we are passionate about leveraging technology to improve financial health and literacy. As part of our team, you will contribute to products like Credit Keeper, which helps customers monitor their credit scores, and Quick Check, which provides pre-approval certainty for credit card applications. Our tech stack emphasizes cloud-native solutions, open source frameworks, RESTful APIs, microservices, and containerization, enabling rapid deployment and continuous innovation.

You will be involved throughout the entire software development lifecycle, from design and development to deployment and support, ensuring our products meet the highest standards of quality and user experience.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a strong educational background and extensive experience in iOS application development. A bachelor's degree in any field is required, along with a minimum of six years of hands-on experience developing native iOS applications using Swift and SwiftUI. You should have a proven track record of designing, architecting, and developing complex mobile solutions, demonstrating proficiency in full lifecycle development and technical leadership.

Leadership experience is essential, including mentoring junior and intermediate developers, providing guidance on best practices, and collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders. Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS and experience working in agile environments will be advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Own and lead the delivery of major components and platform needs in collaboration with senior engineers and architects, ensuring alignment with business goals and technical standards.
  • Work as an integral part of a fast-paced mobile development team, participating in all phases of the software development lifecycle, including planning, design, coding, testing, and deployment.
  • Enhance and refine software engineering practices by contributing to agile processes, code reviews, and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
  • Design scalable, maintainable, and high-performance iOS applications utilizing best practices and emerging technologies.
  • Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior, intermediate, and senior mobile engineers, fostering a culture of learning and innovation.
  • Engage with product owners, designers, and other stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions that deliver exceptional user experiences.
  • Stay current with industry trends, technological advancements, and open-source frameworks to continuously improve our mobile platform.
