Mechanical Engineer – Power Plant Overhaul (Contract) Dublin - 12-month contract - ASAP start

A major Irish power generation site is delivering a large scale plant overhaul in 2026 and is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer with power plant experience to join the project team.

You’ll take ownership of the Cooling Water scope, covering cooling water systems, motors, culverts, band screens and condenser inspections/repairs, working closely with the Project Manager and site teams to deliver the overhaul safely, on time and to standard.

Key responsibilities:

• Act as Mechanical lead for assigned overhaul scopes
• Contractor and EPC management (day-to-day supervision, quality, progress)
• Work Controller / Confined Space Coordinator under site SSoW rules
• Implement ITPs, manage quality plans and close-out reporting
• Support cost control, programme reporting and project meetings
• Safety, environmental and quality audits throughout the outage

Experience required:

• Proven background in power station mechanical overhauls
• Strong knowledge of pumps, motors, valves and mechanical plant
• Contractor management and site supervision experience
• Minimum 5 years post-qualification in power generation
• Strong safety, documentation and reporting capability

Desirable:

• Thermal power plant overhaul experience
• Familiarity with Irish utility safety rules

Logistics:

• 6 to 12 month contract
• Site-based role in Dublin
• Travel/accommodation not provided for normal site attendance.
• 8am - 4pm (maybe later as required by the project)
