Systems Engineer – Sensors & Edge AI / MATLAB / Python / DSP / C/C++
An industry-leading technology company is expanding its Sensors Technologies team in Cork and is looking for a Systems Engineer with a strong foundation in DSP, Machine Learning, and embedded C/C++.
This is a hands-on, end-to-end role where you will take ideas from early-stage R&D through to commercial deployment, working on cutting-edge low-power and edge AI applications across wearables, IoT, and next-generation compute platforms.
What will you do?
- Collaborate with global systems and software teams
- Develop and validate sensor algorithms using MATLAB and Python
- Optimize DSP pipelines for edge AI, including floating to fixed point conversion and bitwidth tuning
- Balance performance, power, memory, and computational efficiency
- Implement embedded software in C/C++ for both fixed and floating point systems
- Produce technical reports and documentation
- Communicate design progress, results, and challenges to cross-functional stakeholders
Core Requirements:
- Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or similar
- Experience across ASIC, systems, or embedded domains
Technical Skills:
- Strong understanding of DSP fundamentals and Machine Learning concepts
- Knowledge of linear algebra, probability, and statistics
- Experience with feature extraction, classification, and neural networks
- Embedded programming in C/C++
- Exposure to optimizing algorithms for low-power devices is a plus
- Familiarity with MEMS or inertial sensors is advantageous
