About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Solution Architect Expert with deep expertise in flexibility markets and MG Flex processes to join our client’s Future Platforms team. This freelance opportunity places you at the heart of Belgium’s energy market transformation, where your architectural vision will shape the next generation of digital platforms. You’ll be instrumental in designing solutions that enable flexibility, data-driven services, and new market models — ensuring Belgium’s energy sector remains stable, adaptive, and future-ready.

Key Responsibilities

• Define and maintain solution architectures for flexibility market initiatives and MG Flex processes.
• Translate complex business and market needs into clear, actionable architecture designs and solution blueprints.
• Coordinate architecture alignment across DSO, TSO, and other platform stakeholders, ensuring seamless collaboration.
• Support the evolution and enhancement of flexibility platforms such as FlexHub and RTCP, focusing on consistency, scalability, and maintainability.
• Contribute to architecture governance, RFP preparation, and provide solution guidance in a complex, multi-stakeholder environment.
• Champion Agile methodologies and support product-driven development in close collaboration with market stakeholders.
• Ensure effective decision-making and alignment through governance bodies, maintaining operational reliability and adaptability.

Technical Skills & Experience

• Minimum 8 years’ experience as a Solution Architect, with extensive exposure to the Belgian energy sector.
• Expert knowledge of the Belgian energy market and proven experience coordinating between DSO and TSO platform teams.
• Strong expertise in flexibility markets and MG Flex, with hands-on experience in platforms such as FlexHub or RTCP.
• Advanced proficiency in architecture modelling techniques and tools: ArchiMate, TOGAF, UML, Sparx EA.
• Senior-level experience with Azure-based platforms.
• Proven experience with Normalized Systems technology at a senior level.
• Demonstrated involvement in co-authoring RFPs within the energy sector.
• Experience as a SCRUM Master in complex, multi-stakeholder energy projects (at DSO, TSO, or Supplier environments) is highly valued.

Language Proficiency

• English: European CEFR Level B2 or higher (required)
• Dutch or French: European CEFR Level C1 or higher (required)
